We are writing to inform you about an important update to our ITR Compliance Check API. Our goal is to enhance the accuracy and clarity of the compliance information provided by our API.
What’s Changing?
Previously, our API returned a
compliantalong withpan_aadhaar_linkedflag to indicate the compliance status with respect to income tax regulations. This flag primarily indicated whether the individual or entity was specified under Section 206ABIn the updated version of the API in June 2024, we had introduced two additional fields:
1.
specified_person_under_206: Indicates if the person is specified under Section 206.2.
pan_status: Indicates the status of the PAN (e.g., operative, inoperative).These fields were introduced to reflect the updated rules, which consider both the specified status under Section 206 and the PAN status (operative or inoperative) for determining compliance, especially for lower TDS deductions.
Now, we are changing the logic to
compliantflagUpdated Logic for the
compliantFlagTo avoid any confusion, we have updated the logic for the
compliantflag. Going forward, for thecompliantflag to be true:- The individual or entity must not be specified under Section 206.
- The PAN must be in an operative status (linked with Aadhaar).
If either of these conditions is not met, the
compliantflag will be set to false.Why This Change?
The term
compliantwas causing some confusion among our clients, as it was interpreted as indicating eligibility for lower TDS deduction. With this update, we aim to provide a clearer representation of compliance by incorporating both the specified status and the operative status of the PAN.Recommendation
We strongly recommend that you rely on the fields
specified_person_under_206andpan_statusindividually in your integration to avoid any confusion in future updates. Thecompliantfield is maintained for backward compatibility, but for precise compliance checks, the individual fields provide more detailed and accurate information.Impact on Your Systems
Please review your integration with our API to ensure that your systems are updated to handle these changes. The updated fields and logic are designed to provide a more comprehensive compliance check, and we believe this will benefit your compliance assessments.
